Obafemi Awolowo University Students Boo, Stone President Jonathan In Ife........Sahara Reporters

There was unrest on the campus of Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun State, southwest Nigeria, on Friday, 28 November, 2014 as students of the institution hauled stones and sticks at President Goodluck Jonathan during his visit to the campus.

President Jonathan, notable traditional rulers in the southwest and politicians had attended the Yoruba Unity Summit organised by the Committee on Yoruba Progress, southwest geo-political zone of the country where the president was endorsed for his re-election in the 2015 general election.
But the placard-wielding students of the institution who had converged at the Oduduwa Hall, venue of the conference to protest what they termed “rot in the educational sector” booed and stoned President Jonathan while entering the presidential chopper few minutes after the summit.
The irate protesters were shouting “ole” “ole” (“thief”, “thief”) at the president and other notable politicians who attended the event.
They displayed placards with inscriptions like: “We Condemn Jos Killing of Students, Students Are Not Chicken”, Don’t Sell Education As You Sold Electricity.”, We Demand Total Reversal of 2014 Hiked School Fees, We are Not Responsible For Jonathan’s Ineptitude.” among other inscriptions.

 Africa’s biggest youth event, The Future Awards Africa (TFAA) 2014 has announced the hosts for its 2014 edition: they are 2014 World Music Awards nominee Iyanya; 2013 BET International African Act of the Year, Ice Prince; lead actress on MNET’s Tinsel, Osas Ighodaro and Ugandan Channel O VJ, Flavia Tumisiime.
The hosts represent the brightest and best of young Africans in the arts from music to television, in the past year. They have been announced with an exclusive photo-shoot anchored by TCD Photography.
“Young Africans are no longer spectators in our collective fate and the awe-inspiring selection of them that The Future Awards Africa celebrates points to this,” said Flavia, who last year hosted the live premiere of the continent’s foremost reality show, Big Brother Star Game alongside its star host, IK. “Of course, I had to be part of the exclusive evening that rewards their creativity, innovation, enterprise. I know I will be inspired!”

Death was unfair for the umpteenth time yesterday after tragedy struck without prior notification as a fresh graduate of the Imo State University took his last breath as students poured him water in jubilation of final year completion. What seem to be a jubilation turned into a gathering of sorrow within spilt seconds after the victim, who was running away from a number of students who pursued him to 

pour dirty water on him, fell into a soak-away pit and got drowned. . . To compound the trouble, the water from the pit was partially passing a light current as the pit is dug beside their transformer where earth-wire is buried. Many universities have banned the tradition of pouring of water but in their usual manner, many students have remained hell bent on practicing it. R.I.P to the dead.

Ghen Ghen........Majid Michel Facebook imposter jailed 10 months

The 37-year-old Nigerian, who was arrested by the police for impersonating Ghanaian actor Majid Michel has been jailed 10 months with hard labour Friday. The imposter, Kelvin Ogodogu, was arrested on Saturday, November 15 through the help of some of his neigbours in Kasoa in the Central region, for trying to defraud a US-based Nigerian lady.

The Nigerian, posing as Majid Michel on Facebook, solicited funds from unsuspecting persons, including the US-based Nigerian lady, Ikay, to bury his mum. Kelvin Ogodogu was arraigned before the Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA) Magistrates’ Court in Teshie on Thursday, November 20 where he initially pleaded not guilty to the charges of impersonation and attempted fraud.
During the second hearing on Tuesday, November 25, presided over by Judge Charles Yaw Boateng, State Prosecutor, Chief Inspector Ophelia Denteh led the award winning actor to give his evidence. But during his third appearance on Thursday, November 27, Kelvin pleaded guilty with explanation.
He explained that he has always been a fan of the award winning actor and people even called him Majid Michel. According to Kelvin, the lady in question sent him a message, “Hi Majid” on Facebook and he subsequently initiated a conversation with her.

Street artist Jay Shells recently teamed up with JMZ Walls to tag a street corner in Brooklyn with lyrics from Mos Def’s “Mathematics.” The large, red and white mural is a continuation of Shells’ “The Rap Quotes” street sign project, where the young creative posts signs — containing popular rap quotes pertaining to a spot in a city — in the exact place those lyrics mention.

Nigeria's Oil Minister Dieziani Alison-Madueke elected first female president of OPEC

Nigeria's Minister of Petroleum, Dieziani Alison-Madueke has been elected the first female president of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). She was elected today at the ongoing 166th General Meeting of the body in Vienna, Austria.

She replaces former president of OPEC, Libyan Vice Prime Minister for Corporations, Abdourhman Atahar-Ahirish. She was elected for one year and is expected to immediately resume office

SPOTTED: Prince Harry smoking hookah pipe onboard yacht in Abu Dhabi

Prince Harry has been spotted smoking from a shisha pipe onboard a yacht in Abu Dhabi.

The photograph shows the 30-year-old royal trying the flavoured tobacco on the boat, which was docked in the United Arab Emirates city’s marina for the Mahiki F1 Yacht Party.

Harry was pictured dressed casually with seven others as he smoked the hookah - which is legal - after watching Lewis Hamilton win his second Formula One World Championship.

Well, now, the long wait is over for Alfonso Ribeiro.

The "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" co-star says he's wanted to be on "Dancing With the Stars" (DWTS) since it went on the air nearly 10 years ago.

Ribeiro not only made it onto the show, he's the new champ.

The winner was crowned at the conclusion of last night's season finale.

It came down to Ribeiro and "Duck Dynasty" teen Sadie Robertson.

Janel Parrish finished third. Ribeiro had the inside lane going into the finale.

He had two sets of perfect scores from the judges on Monday's program and got another in the final dance on last night's show.

Ribeiro had tears streaming down his cheeks and says he can't believe it.

Dancing with the Stars will be back with its 10th anniversary season in the spring.
