Newcastle Manager Alan Pardew Gets Seven Match Ban

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has been handed a seven-match ban by the Football Association (FA) for his headbutt on Hull’s David Meyler. Pardew, 52, had accepted an FA misconduct charges last week, but a lengthy list of previous offenses was taken into consideration before Tuesday’s final sentence. In a statement, Newcastle say the club and Alan Pardew have accepted the decision and “now wish to draw a line under the matter”. Pardew said: “As I have made clear, I deeply regret the incident and again wholeheartedly apologise to all parties for my conduct, which I understand was not acceptable.Alan Pardew’s Headbutt of Hull’s Meyler Has Been Widely Rebuked By Many Premier League Pundits. “I will accept the punishment handed down by the FA today. My focus now turns to preparing the team for this weekend’s game against Fulham and finishing the season as strongly as possible.” The first three matches will see Pardew banned from the stadium. He will then bebanned from the touchline in the next four matches. The Magpies boss has already publicly claimed he was not trying to hurt Meyler when he butted him. Instead, he has argued. he was merely trying to “push him away with his head.” Pardew has received one FA charge and been warned three times about his behaviour on the touchline in just over three years as Newcastle United manager. In 2006, he clashed with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger. In October 2007, he had to deny making things worse during a clash between the players of Charlton and Hull. In March 2012, Pardew and Sunderland manager Martin O’Neill were warned by the FA following an angry confrontation on the touchline during the Tyne-Wear derby. August 2012, Pardew received a two-game touchline ban and was fined £20,000 for shoving a linesman. January 2014, Pardew is warned again by the Football Association after he is caught on camera calling Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini a “f****** old c***”. The incident in review happened during the second half of the Newcastle’s 4-1 win at the KC Stadium earlier this month. He is also fined £60,000 and warned as to his future conduct.
