Tinubu Threatens Legal Action, Wants To Become Buhari’s Running Mate

National leader of the All Progressives Congress and former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has denied allegations raised by online journal, Sahara Reporters in its report titled: “Threat of perjury trial: How Jonathan Blackmailed Bola Tinubu before 2011 Presidential election”, threatening legal action if the publishers fail to issue a retraction.

According to Vanguard, Tinubu Media Organisation has also confirmed his interest in the Vice President slot of his party.

A human rights lawyer and activist, Olatunji Abayomi, has demanded a retraction arguing that the report is not only false, but defamatory.

“We demand a statement acknowledging your error of trying to damage our client’s reputation as well as a statement regretting the same.
“Please this matter must be attended to immediately otherwise you run the risk of multiple civil suits all over the world in defence of our client, “Abayomi wrote.

The lawyer said the report attempted to defame Tinubu’s reputation by spreading old, utterly false gossip in hope of wrongly destroying his prospects, adding that there was no charge at the Federal High Court numbered FHC/ABJ/CR/04/2011, nor was Tinubu tried or convicted.
Abayomi noted that the United States Embassy, in its February 4, 2003 response to an inquiry by the Inspector-General of Police, stated that there is “no criminal arrest, records, wants or warrants for Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

“If you had checked readily available records, you would have found that he travels periodically to the United States. Had he been engaged in criminal wrongdoing, he would have been ineligible for entry into that country,” Abayomi wrote.

The said story generated reactions on the social media, as the Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on New Media, Reno Omokri, urged Tinubu to come clean on the issue.

In a related development, Senator Bola Tinubu has confirmed his interest in the vice presidential ticket of the APC, stating that governance had little to do with religion, region or rumour but more with vision and competence. This was disclosed in a statement by his media aide, Sunday Dare.
Mr. Dare rubbished objection to Tinubu involvement in the race based on his same religion with Buhari, his alleged involvement in drug-trafficking and alleged tainted academic achievements.

QPR’s Taarabt: ‘Everybody told me Balotelli was amazing’

QPR midfielder Adel Taarabt has spoken publicly about his thoughts on Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli.

The Morocco international played with the much talked about Italian attacker at AC Milan last season and

says he cannot see what all the fuss is about.

“Everybody told me he (Balotelli) was amazing,” Taarabt told Sky Sports.

“I played with him and I can confirm he’s good, but he didn’t seem like a world-class player to me.

“He has a strong shot but he doesn’t play for the team. Or if he does, then he doesn’t score which is the case now with Liverpool.

“He had a lot of chances, from Manchester City to Milan, and he threw them all away.”

A few weeks ago, a young man named Adel Al-Otaibi, posted the proposal in a comment on one of Mrs Kardashian-West’s many selfies. See how Africa voted! Idris wins Big Brother Hotshots

idris wins bbhotshots
No surprises there! Tanzania’s Idris emerged winner of the 9th season of Big Brother Africa on Saturday. As I have been hinting on social media, the finale woyld be down to regional votes and since Idris was the only one from Eastern Africa in the finals it out him ahead of the Southern and West Africa zones.  According to the final votes of the season, Idris received five country votes and these were from Kenya, Namibia, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda. The runner-up, Tayo received two country votes and these were from Nigeria and Mozambique.
The rest of the finalists received country votes as follows: Macky2 got two country votes from Zambia and Rest of Africa, Nhlanhla also got two country votes from South Africa and Botswana, JJ got one country vote from Zimbabwe, Sipe also got one country vote from Malawi and Butterphly received 0 country votes. M’am Bea got the Ghana vote also.  For the housemates who received the same number of country votes, the tie breaker rule came into effect for those housemates. Idris  charmed not only the women of the house, he charmed the entire continent of Africa. Idris is now USD300 000 richer.

All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) now set for December 27

afrimma
The All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA, and the African Union Commission are set to bring 2014 to a close with a show-stopping awards ceremony scheduled to hold on Saturday, December 27, at the prestigious Grand Ballroom, Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. In partnership with the African Union Commission, AUC, AFRIMA will be rewarding excellence in the continental music and media industry at the main awards ceremony.
Preceding the ceremony will be the African Music Summit themed “Reviving the Business of Music in Africa” slated for the morning of Saturday, December 27, at the Oriental Hotel. The Summit is a platform for African and global music industry stakeholders to network and deliberate on how the music industry can be nurtured and structured to be a major contributor to national and continental economies.
For the 2014 edition, the award project opened entry submission in 31 categories on May 15 and closed the submission of entries on July 21 in the process receiving a staggering total of 2,025 works for assessment submitted by African music industry artistes, professionals and journalists. The AFRIMA nominees list unveiling occurred in Lagos, Nigeria on Tuesday, September 23 amidst world media fanfare, with popular African music names jostling alongside emerging music forces for space on the list.
The Public and AFRIMA Academy voting began on the AFRIMA www.afrima.org on September 30 and expected to end on November 4. However, public voting was further extended by three weeks only ending on Tuesday, November 25, thereby allowing African music fans and followers more time to vote for their favourite artistes.
In the course of the invite-only award ceremony night, more than 30 of AFRIMA’s 23.9-carat gold-plated trophies will be received by music acts or groups in their respective categories. The trophy recipients will also include an AFRIMA Legend Awardee and the African Entertainment/Music Journalist of the year. To spice up the proceedings will be sizzling performances from some of Africa’s top performing artistes and bands.
“There is so much excitement in store for guests who attend the both the Africa Music Summit and AFRIMA main award ceremony. The Summit provides ample opportunity for robust and strategic deliberations on developing the African music industry to compete with the better developed industries around the globe”, stresses Delani Makhalima, AFRIMA Juror from Zimbabwe.
Mr. Makhalima also states: “When we are done with the vital intellectual aspect of the event calendar, all attention turns to the glamourous, star-studded, cultural concept award ceremony for a fitting finale to the last weekend in 2014. AFRIMA is eager to welcome our African music stars from within and outside the continent, officials of the African Union Commission, members of the
International Committee of AFRIMA and special guests”.
Although committed to delivering a world-class 2014 award event, the International Committee of AFRIMA, AFRIMA reveals that part of the ceremony’s programme will pay tribute to lives affected by the scourge of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in some West African states and terrorist insurgency in Northern Nigeria, Somalia and part of Kenya -both disturbing trends had necessitated the rescheduling of the award ceremony.

December 2014 is Finally Here!!

Ain't you excited, dearies?! It's been a long, eventful year but God's name be praised, we made it again to a new month, the last of the year. Finally, the new year is now only a stone throw away.

It has not been easy but through it all, we made it. We surely have enough to be thankful for. May the joy that comes with ending this year stay with us all, guys. May God watch over us all and protect us. Let's not lose hope if we still have lots of unaccomplished goals. Nobody can go back now and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending. This month will be the best of the year, with all our plans and hopes of ending it in style. *winks* So, watch out.

Happy first day of December, sweethearts. Happy New Month to all of us!!
