Many Killed, Injured As Fresh Explosion Rocks Maiduguri

The relative peace enjoyed by people living in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital was Tuesday disrupted by a deadly bomb blast which rocked the Post Office General area killing no fewer than ten people, while several others sustained injuries. Also shops, vehicles and tricycles close to the scene were engulfed in flames. The incident which took place at about 1:30pm opposite a military post has been deserted by civilians with only security agencies on the ground to evacuate the charred remains of victims including the injured to the State Specialists Hospital located some few metres away from where the blast occurred. The area which is always busy with traffic gridlock as a result of the popular GSM market (Kasuwan Jagol in hausa) erupted in pandemonium when the blast occurred as people and traders scampered for safety.
